Andrew Goodwin
dancing in the distraction factory.

Illustration.
this is where the music video cuts to the beat, it also illustrates literal meaning where the lyrics match the video that is being played so it acts like a narrative or I telling a story. lastly the band and the artist would dress how the audience would expect them to dress.

examples for this can be from "call me maybe carly rae jepsen". this is a good example because the lyrics "call me maybe" are explaining a story or narrative from the film as its about a guy that she is starting to like.

amplification.
this is where the cuts are both off and on the beat, it also makes the images amplify the lyrics. this is also where fictional roles can be taken on by the band during the music video.

an example of this is Eminem stand alone as the song is about taking a stand and not being afraid to and we can tell this from the lyrics but not the video its self.

disjuncture
this is where throughout the film it cuts off the beat but not always, also images do not relate to the lyrics what so ever which can also lead on to the band taking on a random image of their choice.

an example of this can be Taio Cruz Dynamite. The song is about going to a club and basically enjoy yourself where Taio Cruz uses the word dynamite as a way to express the way to enjoy yourself.
